History

I have been playing video games for as long as I can remember and I do not regret the hours of my life spent in these virtual worlds because I have loved every second of it.  Looking back I am sometimes shocked at how many different games I have played over the years here is a brief history of my gaming career.

Level 1: the early days

My first gaming memories are on my dad’s old macintosh.  I remember playing lots of old arcade style games, however, I do not remember what they were called.  The one game that I distinctly remember consistently was Dig-Dug but apart from that I do not have many other memories.

Games worth mentioning:

Dig Dug: Namco (1982)

Ahh… the memories

Level 2: The classic days

Some of my favorite gaming memories come from my Playstation 1, I recieved it as a hand-me-down from some older friends, I was around six years old at the time.  In addition to the console they gave me all of their games including Crash Bandicoot 2 the game that turned me into a hard core gamer and one I will occationally play to this day.  The PS1 also gave me my first taste of couch co-op; I can remember taking turns with my friends on Spyro the Dragon and playing Madden with my dad.  The rest is history as they say, from then on I played video games as much as I possibly could and even when my PS1 broke I knew it was only the beginning.

Games worth mentioning:

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex strikes back – Naughty Dog (1997)

Spyro year of the Dragon – Insomniac (2000)

Spyro the Dragon – Insomniac (1998)

Crash Bandicoot warped – Naughty Dog (1998)

Never underestimate a seal.

Level 3: pc gaming?

One day I was over at my cousins house and they showed me a new game, that new game was the original Lego Star Wars.  A Lego video game? Better yet, a Lego Star Wars video game?  Being a huge Lego fan I knew I had to buy it for myself.  However, when I tried to install my new lego game I was ungraciously told my computer had no graphics card.  What is a graphics card?  After showing my dad the problem he decided that we could buy a graphics card for my computer.  $100 and a long setup time later my computer had a top of the line graphics card that was powerful enough to play Lego Star Wars, a game that after many many hours of playtime I was proud to have a 100% completion rating.  My new graphics card also gave me my first introduction into the RTS genre through Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth.  For the first time I was controlling entire armies with the click of a mouse, it was awesome.  Like the PS1 before it one day my computer broke and I lost all those games but I was not worried I was ready to buy a Playstation 2.

Games worth mentioning:

Lord of the Rings: Battle for MIddle Earth – EA Los Angeles (2004)

Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy – Traveller’s Tales (2006)

Lego Star Wars – Traveller’s Tales (2005)

Still the best move in the game.

Level 4: back to basics

When I bought my PS2 I got two games with it, a worthless Star Trek game and Namco museum, altho it was fun reliving the classics it was about a month before I got my first big game for my PS2 that game was Star Wars Battlefront.  I am still not sure what about the Battlefront formula hooked me but I played Battlefront and Battlefront 2 almost exclusively through the PS2 lifecycle, although there are some notable exceptions including Shadow of the Colossus and Spiderman 2.  Battlefront 2 also made me fall in love with couch multiplayer, my cousins and I spent way too many hours shooting plasma rifles and wielding lightsabers.

Around 2006 I started hearing more and more about the PS3.  I told myself that it was just a PS2 with better graphics but deep down I knew that wasn’t true.  In the early days of the ps3 it was easy for me to not want it because it had very few games I wanted, or could play, I was not allowed to play M rated games at that point.  That all changed when I saw LittleBigPlanet instantly, I knew I needed a PS3

Games worth mentioning:

Star Wars Battlefront

Star Wars Battlefront II

Shadow of the Colossus

Spider-man 2

The Force Unleashed

Battlefront2

This game is were battlefronter3 comes from
